NEM Guidelines

The government of Malaysia, through the EC, has issued guidelines in 2016 for the purpose of implementing the Net Energy Metering (NEM) scheme, in line with the EC’s function to promote RE. Read more about it here.

Net Energy Metering - NEM Tariff in Malaysia

1. Net Energy Metering (NEM) is only eligible for registered consumers of Distribution Licensees (DL) – in Peninsular Malaysia (TNB), and Sabah & Labuan (SESB)

2. Delinquent consumers who have not paid their bills (blacklisted) and have records of meter tempering are not eligible to apply for Net Energy Metering (NEM) scheme in Malaysia
3. Open to all categories of TNB/SESB consumers under the following tariff*:
  1. Domestic/Residential (Kediaman)
  2. Commercial (Perdagangan) [inclusive of government buildings]
  3. Industrial (Perindustrian)

4. The resource for producing electricity shall be from Solar Photovoltaic (Solar PV) only
